Driving Interoperability in the Energy System Forward: Launch of IntMAS
The energy sector is moving fast, and interoperability is key to making the transition work. To support this, the int:net project is proud to announce the launch of the “IntMAS approved” label — a registered brandmark awarded to organisations that have successfully implemented the Interoperability Management and Audit System (IntMAS).
What is IntMAS?
IntMAS is a management framework designed to help organisations across the energy ecosystem — from technology providers and test labs to associations and communities. Inspired by proven management tools such as EMAS, ISO 9000, and ISO 50001, IntMAS provides a structured process for achieving interoperability maturity.
Rather than a one-off effort, IntMAS ensures continuous improvement and encourages collaboration across sectors such as buildings, mobility, manufacturing, grids, and beyond.
Why does it matter?
By adopting IntMAS, organisations can:
-
Ensure reliable and future-proof integration of energy solutions.
-
Promote structured, continuous improvement.
-
Build trust with partners, customers, and regulators.
In a rapidly changing energy landscape, IntMAS helps companies demonstrate their commitment to quality, collaboration, and innovation — giving them a clear competitive edge.
How to implement IntMAS?
A guideline, an assessment system, and templates have been developed within the framework of the EC-funded int:net project. For now, candidates receive direct support from the int:net consortium.

After the project’s completion, support tools will be hosted on the IntMAS platform, where an AI-supported certification and label awarding process will also become available.
Tested and approved
Several organisations have already tested IntMAS. At the upcoming int:net Final Conference, the very first organisations to achieve IntMAS approval will be officially awarded and celebrated on stage — a major milestone for the energy interoperability community.
